Hannah Banana Gets Wed!!!

My cousin Hannah got married yesterday to Jay. The wedding was extremely nice and fun for all. So the cousins have surrenderd their first the bonds of marriage. I didn't expect the first to be Hannah, but I am happy for her and Jay as they are going to be an amazing couple. Here are a few pics from the wedding.

These are the flowers that were at each table. They were imported from Hawaii and looked amazing...thats also my hand in the picture to show perspective of how big they are (I am such an artist).

This is Emma being carried in by a 6 foot 9 volleyball player from Norway. It looked so funny. It was funnier to watch them dance. It was a great wedding and I look forward to hanging with Hannah and her new husband.

golf balls from heaven
I had heard that there was such a thing as golf ball sized hail, but my eyes had never before beheld such a sight...that is until recently when I was struck square in the eye by one of these icey wonders. The other night while hanging out with some people in the camp store (big nite), we heard a loud pounding that turned out to be this hail. It was amazing! My one friend freaked out as he lived in a tent. We all ran out in the middle of this storm as everyone who lived in tents needed assistance (although I really dont know what the point was as I ended up just standing there getting pelted by the hail). Anyway, this stuff was so big and strong that it collapsed 3 tents completely...breaking poles and what not. It was something I will not forget. I only wish I had pictures as this lame discription does it NO justice.Saturday, June 03, 2006
Lions and Tigers and Bears....Oh My!
Often times when planting trees you are given a piece of land so big that you could plant it for 2 or even 3 days before you finish it. It is in these instances that you get to leave your planting gear at that piece of land over night instead of having to carry it all the way back to camp...it is a real luxury. The other night one of my fellow planters did this. When he got to his land the next morning he found that his planting bags were gone, along with his winter jacket only to be found ripped to shreads in the middle of his land. It turns out that a bear just wanted to play with them for a while. Amazingly this planter ended up taping old boxes to his waist and planting a $350 day. Good for him. I would have sat and cried. It also makes me more scared of bears.Friday, June 02, 2006
the visual experience
Here are a few pictures of my tree planting experience.
This first one is myself in my gear ready to head into the bush to plant. I look great! I tried to match with my light colour cargo's and blue dress shirt.

This pic is of my hands after a day of planting. They pretty much look like this all the time now. I am getting used to it.

After planting for 10 hours this is how I look. The deer flies on this particular day were so bad and seemed to be the size of small birds. It was a bad day. Oh ya and in this picture I am on the Trans-Canada Pipeline.

Although this picture looks like a thick forest already...this is land that I was about to walk into to plant my trees. It sucked as I could barely walk though it let alone plant trees in it. It was also difficult carrying 100 pounds of trees on your side and trying to walk through trees like that...many time I have fallen flat on my face.

Oh ya so these are the bags I had to carry around on my shoulders for those ten hour days. And inside are the trees I was planting. It is a terrible job...I recommend it to nobody.
